Chris Avena from American Outdoor News presents Larry with his “Championship Belt” for the Lifetime Achievement Award

Presentation of Lifetime Achievement Award to Larry

American Outdoor News presented their first annual Lifetime Achievement Award during the Dallas Safari Club Convention this past January. The American Outdoor News Lifetime Achievement Award was created to recognize one’s participation, commitment and preservation of our outdoor heritage and traditions. This award was conceived to distinguish a person who did not only live the outdoor lifestyle, but they also embodied it.

This year’s recipient for the inaugural lifetime achievement award was none other than Mr. Whitetail himself, Larry Weishuhn. Larry has spent a lifetime as a champion for the outdoors. As a wildlife biologist, he established wildlife management programs on over fifteen million acres throughout North America and Africa. He is currently the co-host of the weekly show “A Sportsman’s Life” that airs on Carbon TV and the host of the podcast “DSC Campfires with Larry Weishuhn.” Larry also has articles published in several magazine publications and blogs each month.

Dallas Safari Club Ambassador

Larry is an ambassador for the Dallas Safari Club and serves on the board of directors for the Dallas Safari Club Foundation. He is the co-founder of the Texas Wildlife Association in 2007 and is actively involved with several other wildlife conservation organizations.

Larry has personally mentored generations of outdoorsmen/women, and He has influenced thousands more through his books, articles, blogs, Television shows and podcasts. Larry has made a lasting impression on a multitude of people on many different levels. He has generously given his services and time to many young outdoor writers, editors and publishers offering guidance, mentorship and support. I can personally attest to the assistance and encouragement that he has provided to me and American Outdoor News. His experience and wisdom have proven invaluable time and again. I will say that our publication would not be the same without guidance and support.

This award was presented as a token of gratitude for the generations of hunters and outdoorsman that Larry had impacted throughout his career. It is an honor to present him with the inaugural American Outdoor News Lifetime Achievement Award, and he would not be the champion that he is without a championship belt.
